Your privacy matters. This policy explains what information we collect when you buy the book, take the Selection Diagnostic, or visit The Selection Standard, how we use it, and the choices you have.
The short version: we collect only what we need to deliver what you bought and to run the website. We do not sell your personal information. Ever.

1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
Order information. When you buy the book, you provide your name, email, and payment details. Payment details are handled by Stripe (our payment processor) and are never stored on our servers.
Quiz lead information. When you complete the Selection Diagnostic and submit your email to receive your result, we store your first name, email, your answers to the eight questions, and the archetype your answers produced.
Free chapter signup. If you sign up to receive Chapter 1, we collect your email.
Communications. If you email us, we collect your email, the contents of your message, and any attachments.

- Sending your digital book (PDF and EPUB), audiobook (where purchased), and bonus materials
- Providing access to the SAI+ Custom GPT (a link, not your data)
- Processing refunds within the 90-day guarantee window
- Sending order confirmation and any product updates relating to your purchase
2.2 Running the Quiz and Email Follow-up
- Generating your Selection Diagnostic result from your answers
- Sending you the chapter referenced in your result and a short follow-up sequence
- You can unsubscribe from any non-transactional email in one click
2.3 Improving the Website
- Understanding traffic sources and which pages convert
- Identifying and fixing bugs
- Improving copy and design based on aggregate behaviour
2.4 Security and Legal
- Detecting and preventing fraud, abuse, and security incidents
- Enforcing our Terms of Service
- Complying with applicable laws and responding to legal requests
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the circumstances below.
3.1 Service Providers
We share data with third-party service providers who help us run The Selection Standard. Each one is contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify.
3.2 Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to:
- Comply with legal obligations
- Protect our rights or property
- Prevent fraud or abuse
- Protect the safety of our users or the public

The SAI+ Custom GPT (third-party platform)
The Selection Attraction Index runs on OpenAI's ChatGPT platform. When you use the SAI+ tool, you interact directly with ChatGPT under your own ChatGPT account. Your conversations with the tool are subject to OpenAI's privacy policy, not ours. We do not receive copies of your SAI+ inputs or outputs.

5. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to run the site and to understand how it's used.

6. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as necessary to deliver what you bought, run the website, and meet legal obligations.

You can request deletion of your data at any time (see Section 9). Some data may be retained in backups for up to 90 days after deletion, and anonymised, aggregated data may be retained indefinitely. Data required for legal compliance is retained as required by law.
7. Data Security
We use industry-standard technical and organisational measures:
- Encryption in transit (TLS / HTTPS)
- Encryption at rest (database encryption)
- Rate limiting and abuse detection
- Limited access to personal data on a need-to-know basis
- Regular security reviews
No system is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a security breach affecting your data, we will notify you as required by law.
8. International Data Transfers
The Selection Standard is operated from the United States. If you access the site from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States.
For EU and UK users: when we transfer data outside the EU or UK, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission and adequacy decisions where applicable. Our service providers maintain their own compliance with applicable data protection laws.
9. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have any or all of the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access. Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction. Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Deletion. Ask us to delete your data.
- Export. Receive your data in a portable format.
- Opt-out. Unsubscribe from non-transactional emails at any time.

11. Your Rights Under CCPA

We Do Not Sell Personal Information
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not “share” personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
How to Exercise Your CCPA Rights
Email theo@theselectionstandard.com. We will verify your identity and respond within 45 days. You may designate an authorised agent to submit requests on your behalf; the agent must provide proof of authorisation.
12. Children's Privacy
The Selection Standard is intended for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at theo@theselectionstandard.com. We will delete such information promptly.
13. Do Not Track
Some browsers include a “Do Not Track” (DNT) feature that signals to websites that you do not want your activity tracked. There is no universal standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals. The Selection Standarddoes not currently respond to DNT signals, but you can manage tracking through our cookie consent banner and your browser's privacy settings.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. For minor changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date. For material changes, we will provide email notification and prominent notice on the site.
If you do not agree with the revised Privacy Policy, you should stop using the site. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
